first, use your template to cut out 10 circles from your fabric

cut one more circle, but make it a little smaller - this will be your base.
depending on what you want to do with your finished flower,
you might want to make the base out of felt or something more sturdy.
This flower has a slightly floppy quality, so the base is essential =)

take your first circle

..and fold in half

..then fold in half again.

next, secure the 'tip' of the open end with a few stitches, as you see =)

then, open end down, stand your first petal up on your work surface

then fold the top section back and down.
it's kinda like folding a shirt collar down after you've fixed a tie =)

repeat the previous steps on all your circles (except for your base!)

take one of your petals & make a few stitches in the tip
- this will define the shape =)

each petal is made up of 2 circles
so stitch 2 of them together, like above
so stitch 2 of them together, like above

they make the sweetest little hearts (^_^)
your 10 circles should make you 5 Heart shaped petals

you need to gather them all together, so..
take your needle and thread it through the tip of each petal

when all 5 are strung onto the thread, pull it.
This will gather the petals into a circle =)

as best as you can, pull the thread tightly
and secure the two ends togther with a few strong stitches.
and you're almost done!
to finish off, glue your flower to its base & pop a button in the center =)
